
For a number of years now, culinary tourism journalist Michèle Foreman has been travelling Quebec’s country roads and those that run along the St Lawrence River in search of artisans, from food producers to processors, from chefs to innkeepers.
Michèle Foreman was awarded the Le Renaud-Cyr 2004 prize for her French-language collection, L’histoire savoureuse d’une région, which currently comprises four books. In giving her this special prize, the jury highlighted her commitment to understanding the importance of the partnership between chefs and food producers.
She has also received the Signature 2001 – Eastern Canada prize from the Canadian Federation of Chefs and Cooks. In 2004, she was awarded the Jean-Luc Doudeau Trophy for her French-language book, L’histoire savoureuse d’une région Outaouais.
Michèle was finalist for the Culturiades 2003 heritage award. Her first book, L’histoire savoureuse d’une région Outaouais was selected to be part of a major exhibition entitled Bon Appérit! A Celebration of Canadian Cookbooks, at the National Library of Canada in Ottawa. Savour Québec: Regional Bounty, published in English in 2005, takes you on a delicious and heartfelt tour of Québec's regional artisans and their recipes.
The author is a regular member of the jury in a number of culinary contests. She is also a contributor to French-language publications and leads conferences where she invites consumers to share her discoveries. Her efforts to encourage the development of regional products are well-known and appreciated throughout Quebec.
Originally from Montreal, Michèle Foreman today makes her home in Petite-Nation, located in the Outaouais region.
