Micheline Mongrain-Dontigny

 

 

Micheline Mongrain-Dontigny is a food professionnal with more than 20 years of experience in food writing and editing, cooking school teacher, food historian and lecturer. She obtained a diploma in professionnal cooking in 1981, then worked as a chef and wrote 10 cookbooks as well as articles on varied food topics and food history of Quebec. She recently launched a french cookbook on maple which will be translated in english in the coming year.

As a chef in fine dining restaurants and as auberge-chef and manager, she directed an official gastronomic meal for prime minister of Canada, Jean Chrétien and, a gastronomic lunch for the Delegation for medals of general governer of Canada. She was responsible for the "Marché du Terroir" for the "Salon de la gastronomie"of Montreal in 1999-2000.

She was a jury member of Cuisine Canada cookbook awards (2001, 2002) and a jury member of Canadian New Products Awards for two years. She is a jury member of international Slow Food Prize , member of International Association of Culinary Professionnal , Cuisine Canada , and member and past president of Association canadienne pour la presse gastronomique et hôtelière in Quebec.
